4 Extras That You Can Seek For Your Steel Products During Fabrication

Are you fabricating steel products? If you are, then be sure to add maximum value to your products by asking your fabrication expert about the following extras. These services can improve the look and function of your steel products, making them a better fit and prolonging their lifespan. Read on to see what they are.

Blasting

If you have old, dirty or rusted steel metal pieces, the blasting process is vital. During this process, aggregates such as sand are used to abrade your steel pieces in a safe and controlled manner. This is done in a special blast room situated within the fabrication shop. Thanks to blasting, the wear on your steel products can be peeled away in readiness for new functions, or a new look.

Galvanization

Through galvanization, your steel products can be coated with zinc to safeguard them from rust. This is a vital process that is especially crucial for steel products that are meant to be used in the open or near marine locations. Your fabrication expert can suggest the best way to galvanize your steel products. Common options include hot-dip galvanization and electro-galvanization. Once galvanized, your steel products can last much longer without weakening or dilapidating due to rust.

Powder coating

Powder coating is one of the finishes that can be carried out on your steel products after the fabrication process is complete. This entails spray painting your steel products with a colour of your choice to give them a clean new look. Powder coating is ideal for metal pieces as it creates a smooth, even finish that is then heat cured to create a durable coat. Powder coating also helps to protect the steel metal against rust.

Sealing

Once your steel products have been spray painted, you can also seek an extra sealing process. Sealing involves applying a clear protective coat that protects the underlying paintwork from chipping or wearing. Sealing also helps to protect the metal from moisture damage and rust. Some sealing treatments can also help with other risks such as graffiti or scratching. Most importantly, sealing can help install a matte of glossy finish on your metal products.

In addition to the above, you can also seek some other extras from a steel fabrication company, such as Prestige Steelcraft. These include special paintwork (such as anti-foul for boats), artwork, safety stickers, engraving, and polishing. Of course, these will all depend on the final application of your steel products. Your fabrication team can even advise you on which extras to seek depending on the project at hand.
