Top Reasons to Choose Steel Pallet Cages vs Timber Pallet Cages

You might have decided that you want to purchase pallet cages, as they're great for stacking, protecting the items on your pallets and more. You might have started by looking at timber pallet cages, but before you buy them, you should consider steel pallet cages instead. If you're wondering why steel pallet cages might be better, you'll probably like these benefits.

They're Often Lighter

When you put a comparably sized piece of steel alongside a piece of timber, it's true that the steel will typically be heavier. This does not mean that steel pallet cages are heavier than timber pallet cages, however. Because steel has a higher ratio of strength to weight, not nearly as much steel has to be used to create strong pallet cages. Additionally, steel is a relatively lighter metal. Because of this, you'll probably find that steel pallet cages are lighter. This makes them easier for you and your employees to handle, and it can even help with reducing shipping costs and preventing overloaded trucks, too.

They're Resistant to Moisture

In some cases, your pallet cages and pallets might end up getting wet. If you know this might happen, then you might want to avoid timber pallet cages. They can become rotten and otherwise damaged if they get wet. Steel pallet cages should stay in good shape even if they get wet.

They Don't Attract Insects

You do have to worry about insects being attracted to timber pallet cages. However, this is not a problem with steel. If you know that your pallets and pallet cages are going to be stored for a long time, or if you're just worried about insects being picked up along the way, choose steel pallet cages.

They're Stronger and More Durable

The whole reason why you might be thinking about purchasing pallet cages in the first place might be because you want to protect the items on your pallets and because you want to be able to stack your pallets easily. Because of these things, then it only makes sense that you should look for pallet cages that are strong and durable. Even though timber can be quite strong and durable, this is even more the case for steel. To ensure that your pallet cages work well at protecting your pallets, and to be sure that your pallet cages last for a long time and can be used over and over again, pick steel pallet cages.
